Description |
North Family lidded pail. This smaller size pail has red paint, none remains inside. Head is made of 3 pieces of pine, shows the 4 dog marks, and has the usual North Family stamp: "N. F. Shakers / Enfield, N.H." Iron bale with hardwood handle. Diamond shaped iron bail plates are secured with 2 clenched nails per side. Hoops are of approx 9/16" iron, secured with 1 rivet each, and trimmed with straight cuts, neither of which is straight across. The lid is made of two pieces of pine, with the 4 dog marks on the underside, some signs of turning marks, but some up and down saw marks remain on the inside as well. The rim of the lid is iron, secured with 1 rivet, cut straight but not perpendicular, 5/8" wide, and nailed to the wood with iron nails. |
