Description |
Stereoview card. The photographer is on the wooden walkway which leads from the Great Stone Dwelling porch to the 1794 Dwelling House, facing west at the Stone Dwelling porch. A group of sisters and girls are on the steps and the porch. Three sisters are sitting on chairs on the porch, two are standing on the steps to the right, and the remainder of the sisters and children are sitting on the steps. In the C.E. Lewis numbered stereoview series, this image is #14, but this card does not have the printed list affixed to the back. The card has rounded corners and orange paper on the front. The images have shallow arches on the top edges, and are straight on the remaining three sides. The back is pink, which is faded around the edges. On the lower half of the back an inscription in pen reads "A groupe of Shaker / Sisters, taken from the / steps of Stone Building / Church family / Enfield N.H." then a gap followed by "Presented Dec 21, 1883, / By G.K. Currier, / East Plainfield / N.H." At the top in Robert Leavitt's handwriting in blue pen is written "Leavitt Collection" an in the upper right corner in pencil "#14?" |
