Carte-de-visite of Enfield Shaker Almira Elkins. Inscription on back in pen reads "Almira Elkins". The card has brown background and rounded corners with "Lewis. Lebanon, N.H." printed on the bottom in gold. The card is 2-1/2" x 4-1/8" and the image is 2-1/4" x 3-3/4" with rounded corners. The edges of the card are beveled and gilt. Subject is sitting with her hands crossed on her lap, her left arm resting on a scrolled, upholstered chair arm in front of a back drop depicting a decorated fireplace mantle. She is wearing a white cap and a white silk scarf over her shoulders. |
