Description |
Poplarware pincushion. Poplarware cloth is a repeating pattern of 6 strands of poplar and 4 strands of straw. The poplar cloth is trimmed in kid leather and the two ends are secured with a ribbon. The kid is quite narrow and finely applied. The top fabric is beige velvet, divided into 8 segments with thread. A "spiderweb" design is stitched in the center where the threads converge. The bottom is boxboard and covered with white wallpaper that has an woodgrain pattern. A faint stamp reads "From The Shakers, / Enfield, N.H." |
