Description |
Poplarware pincushion. Poplarware cloth is a repeating pattern of 6 strands of straw and 4 strands of poplar. The poplar cloth is trimmed in kid leather and the two ends are secured with a ribbon tied into a bow with one loop (now torn). The top fabric is beige velvet, divided into 8 segments with thread. A "spiderweb" design is stitched in the center where the threads converge. The bottom is boxboard and covered with white paper that is somewhat glossy. A modern sticker on the bottom with red border reads "Made by / Shakers / Enfield / N.H." |
