Description |
Aqua glass Shaker Anodyne bottle with labels. The bottle is rectangular in cross section with rounded shoulders and recessed panels on the narrow sides. One narrow side is embossed "Shaker / Anodyne" and the opposite reads "Nth. Enfield / ~N.H.~" The bevel at the bottom of the recessed side panels ends at the botto edge of the bottle. The bottom has a seam from opposite corners to a recessed round center post, with a central dimple. The seams continue from the bottom corners, up opposite sides of the bottle, across the shoulders, up the neck and terminate just below the rim of the mouth. The mouth has an applied finish and a square, thick rim. There are paper labels affixed to the two wide sides, each exhibiting some loss. The tops of the labels are trimmed to fit the arched shape with a flat top cut and straight bevels on each upper corner. The front label lists the name, a description of its benefits and use, and dosage information. The back label lists physicians who recommend it, followed by a note which states: "Please preserve and read the circular around the bottle." The circular is not present. There are two small remnants of paper glued to the bottom. |
